Have you ever wondered about the origin of the word "trivia"? Back in the days of ancient Rome, it was said that "All roads lead to Rome." This was because Rome was a central location for commerce and trade. Business travelers would go out across the world securing products and selling merchandise. There were three roads which led into the city of Rome to the North. An enterprising businessman decided to open an Inn at the northern crossroads intersection which would serve refreshments to returning travelers. Business travelers who stopped at the Inn would talk to each other, but they sought a break from their travels and wanted only light-hearted conversation without reference to their normal and important business dealings. Romans used the Latin language at the time and the Inn was named, "Three Roads Inn," or Tri Via. The unimportant talk within the Inn became knows as "trivia." ----------------------------------------------------------------------
