2020 Online Skateboard Video Competition

ATTENTION SKATERS!

The 2020 World Round-Up Online Showdown was broadcast July 12th to the 18th on the Braille Skateboarding YouTube Channel.

This contest ranked Freestyle Skateboarding Champions in six categories.

Pros

Amateurs

Master Pro - Over the Age of 40

Master Amateurs - Over the Age of 40

Rookies - Age 15 and Under

Women

For the first time in freestyle history, the contest hosted 110 skaters from 22 countries, who submitted their video entries.

Skaters were evaluated on the creativity and complexity of their timed routines by a panel of international judges including Russ Howell, Per Canguru, Christian Heise, Denham Hill, Albert Kuncz and our own Kevin Harris as our back up judge. This was not an easy task for our judges as the caliber of skating has risen and with so many new faces that we have never seen before.

The youngest skater competing was a 6 year old from Japan, and the oldest skater was a 60 year old from Brazil.

The contest was a LIVE feed broadcast on the Braille Skateboarding YouTube channel which has over 4.9 million subscribers.

Pro freestyle skateboarder Mike Osterman co-hosted the live feed with guest commentators including pro skaters.

Terry Chui

Terry Chui is the World Round-Up Creative director - he assists with contest organization, graphics, social media content and video content. With a background in graphic design, illustration, art direction, apparel and fabrication work, Terry has a depth of experience which has helped elevate the quality and production value of our contest.

A frequent skater at Kevin Harris' "Richmond Skate Ranch", he grew up during the skateboard boom of the 80's, and has followed the skateboard industriy's visual direction for decades. He also competed in the Sun Rype Skateboard Freestyle Championships in the late 80's. He has worked for clients such as Westbeach, Quicksilver, Arson and other local action sports apparel companies. He has 19 years of experience working in digital and video game design as an Art Director and Creative Director at Electronic Arts and Nine Tail Studios.

Terry owns and operates Panda Props and Costumes, which creates iconic costumes and props for collectors, fans, and TV / film productions. He also volunteers for local charitable groups and community causes, sometimes even visiting sick kids in hospitals in costume!
