George Washington's Farewell Address has been removed from school textbooks due to its Christian emphasis.

Farewell Address: "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars."

He stated that the two foundations for political prosperity were religion and morality. No one could be called a American patriot who ever attempted to separate politics from its two foundations: To attempt to separate religion and morality from politics is unpatriotic.
